Two tracks from the new CD are available for download:
Joe John Kelly's/Skip Parenti's/Bonnie Anne/The Best Donegal Reel Ever
The first jig we learned from Tommy McCarthy and Louise Costello, Dave taught us the second, composed by Skip Parenti of Portland, OR. We also heard Tommy and Louise play the first reel and the last we learned from our good friend and piper extraordinaire, Patrick Murray. The title is Dr. Diamond's best effort to make me leave him alone. (from the liner notes)
The Japanese Hornpipe/The Song of the Isles
The first tune is one that John Doherty, the legendary Donegal fiddle player heard at a circus. Danny Meehan, another legendary fiddler from Donegal, told me the man Doherty saw playing the tune in question looked sort of Japanese, so that's what he called it. The second tune is the air of a Scottish song and we learned it from our friend Johnny O'Leary (the younger of West Cork, not the elder of Kerry) who is another of our favorite Boston accordion players. (from the liner notes)
Enjoy!
