Why Is The Magic Square and How? We Are: Dave Cory; Banjo, Bodhran, Guitar and Bozouki Dan Isaacson; Flute, Whistle, Bozouki. Breige Quinn; Fiddle Ted Davis; Guitar, Flute, Banjo We all met in Boston. I arrived in 1995 and quickly gravitated to the session scene which was just starting to get really good back then. Ted was the next to arrive, around 1998, we met at The Burren, internationally acknowledged Home Base of Irish music in Boston. Dave and I first met in San Francisco in 1999. He came out to visit that winter and forgot to go home, the historic conversation went as follows: "Dude," I said, "You should move to town and we should start a band", to which Dave replied, "OK" and that was that. We worked on the record in fits of activity that were few and far between, due to poverty and laziness. Breige came to visit in the spring of 2002 and, she picked things up so fast we decided to get her to help us finish the thing, she stayed for three months and went back the night before our first gig at Johnny D's in Somerville, which was very sad, but we were opening for our good friends Siucras cd launch and this was not at all sad. We didn't all meet up together again for almost a year and we'd never rehearsed together as a group until the day before our launch, you can see pictures of the rehearsal and the launch itself in our photo gallery (coming soon).

Whom Does The Magic Square Love? Also we owe a huge debt to Rob and Sarah Ignazio for the excellent work they did for us in the studio and on graphic design, respectively. More of the same to Todd Glacey who helped us do the mixing, to Dan Landau for setting up this web site and to Wonder Drug Records for doing excellent work on very short notice, they saved our butts in The Biggest Way, Dudes. Extra Extra thanks to Briege for saving our unlikely little recording project from the dustbin of history
